Meet the Occupational Therapist

Brittany is a pediatric occupational therapist in Austin, Texas delivering holistic, home-based and tele-therapy services specializing in sensory integration, fine motor delay, feeding therapy and developmental delay. She graduated from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in 2011 with her Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy (MOT). She moved to Austin just a couple of weeks before graduating, and has spent the last 13 years working with local families to hone her experience with the pediatric population. She has been fortunate to have worked with a wide range of clientele in Travis and Williamson County, including working in outpatient clinics, home-based, and residential treatment centers for children in foster care and appreciated each for their various perks and quirks.

She has been fortunate to work extensively with the foster care community and employs strategies and techniques using Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) and utilizes a Trauma Informed Care based approach when engaging with her clients. She carries both her national and state board certifications and her national Practice Area of Emphasis in pediatrics. She is trained in the Handwriting Without Tears approach, certified in the Get Permission Approach to Mealtime Challenges, and is CPR/First Aid certified. She also trained in college to become a certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor with the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) and volunteered as a Hippotherapy assistant before receiving her Master’s Degree.

Over the years she found a great disconnect between what can be done in a traditional setting and what parents could realistically address in their homes, and wanted to find a way to bring her expertise to create the most comprehensive and holistic therapy experience for her clients. Without the pressures of insurance mandates and constraints of traditional therapy structures, your child will be allowed to develop at their own pace, and the treatment plan will flow with the needs of the child and family.

When Brittany is not working with her favorite kiddos, she enjoys dabbling in sourcing and selling vintage home decor and developing her flower gardens. She and her husband enjoy rock climbing at the local Austin gyms and exploring what Texas has to offer with their dogs, with an occasional escape to the mountains when the heat and humidity gets to be too much!
